NOTABLE MARKINGS
Aspensky is a pretty, silver tabby she-cat. She has white fur on her chest and underbelly. This snowy fur reaches up to her chin and spreads out. Her ears are slightly larger than normal. She has green eyes that fade into a yellow. She's also quite small for a cat her age!
personality
Aspensky has always been a bit of a quirky cat. She loves to laugh and joke around. She is a great cat to have a conversation with, as she loves to talk about her day and hear about someone else's. Some may find her slightly obnoxious and loud nature to be annoying. It can be hard for Aspensky to understand why some cats don't enjoy having conversations when there is so much to talk about! Aspensky has a multitude of other traits within her, but she is so determined to stay happy for others, she doesn't tend to let other emotions out besides happiness.
history
Aspensky was born to the loving couple of Blossomwing and Whitesky. Truly, they were a family that some aspired to have. Blossomingwing was a loving mother who spent her time taking care of her kits and being with her mate. Whitesky was an adventurous tom, the stereotypical bulky warrior. To put it simply, their family was stereotypical. Aspenkit was born alongside her brother, Frostkit. The two grew up normally with a very simple kithood. But, all of that changed when Aspenkit and Frostkit became Aspenpaw and Frostpaw.
Aspenpaw was given a mentor who taught her well. During her apprentice moons, she noticed her family's actions more and more. It was the same thing over and over again. "How was your day Aspenpaw? Oh, that's nice!" or "How is training going? That's lovely, dear!" Eventually, this same communication became too frustrating for her. Where was the emotion? The connection she was longing to feel between her and her family? The worst part about all of it was that her littermate was acting the same way. There were no true conversations. It was like they were raised to not have an opinion.
And that's when it started. Aspenpaw had this need to laugh and connect with other clanmates. She wanted to hear what they needed to say and hear what they thought about something. It was fun to make friends, but it still hurt her to see how her family was unable to communicate properly.
On a seemingly normal day, Aspenpaw went hunting with Frostpaw and Whitesky for a little 'family time.' Not that there would be much talking... Blossomwing was a permaqueen and so did not aid the clan in gathering food. On this hunt, Aspenpaw was doing a fairly good job at hunting with her family. But, as she was stalking a mouse, an overwhelming smell hit her. Before she could register anything, a red blur flashed out of the plants and rushed at her. Whitesky dove in front of her, and in a matter of seconds, his neck was crushed in the teeth of a fox. All the siblings could do was run and get help.
They managed to find help and defeat the fox. But at what cost? Aspenpaw lost her father, a cat she barely knew, and now would never have the chance to know. Whitesky was dead, and she felt as though she never had the chance to truly meet him.
Aspenpaw found a way of coping with his death. She decided to try to be like him. And that meant she would simply never show unhappy emotions. She never cried or never told anyone her true feelings about the event. She stated she had to be strong for her grieving mother and brother. She did just that.
A few moons after the death of Whitesky, Aspenpaw attempted to create a relationship with her brother and mother. But, they couldn't do the same. They were still unable to communicate with their emotions and feelings. Eventually, Aspenpaw just gave up on the idea all together.
To replace the emptiness she felt inside because of her seemingly emotionless family, she decided to make some true friends. She was able to listen to others when they were having hard times and give advice and make them laugh. However, she still didn't find anyone to share her feelings with. Sometimes, the feelings inside of her would build up so much that she would leave camp in the middle of the night. She would go to a secluded area and cry for awhile, so that the next day she could wake up and smile for others.
Eventually, the day came where the siblings were named Aspensky (after her father) and Frostnose. It felt freeing for Aspensky to finally be a warrior. She didn't have to be the daughter of Whitesky and Blossomwing. She could just simply be Aspensky.
After her naming, Aspen began to notice a she-cat named Rainfall. She was a warrior named a few moons prior to her own naming. At first, she didn't know how she was feeling towards the other she-cat. In fact, she hand't felt this feeling for a very long time. All she could do was stare at the beautiful female and hope for recognition at some point. Eventually, Rainfall confronted Aspen, and the two immediately hit it off!
Aspensky only confronted her feelings to one cat, and that was Rainfall. After a few moons of being close, Rainfall asked what they were. At first, Aspensky was confused, but then she understood the question. Boldly, Aspen replied, "We're mates, of course." They've been together ever since.
That's when Frostnose started to ignore her. He wouldn't even attempt a conversation with her. They were never close in the first place, but it was still a hard blow. It wasn't because of who she was was mated to. Rather, it was the fact that she was mates with anyone at all and she didn't consult her family about it. Rainfall helped her through it, and soon she took Frostnose and Blossomwing out of her mind. Their close-mindedness would no longer control her. She was happy, and that was what mattered.
Aspensky and Blossomwing never had the chance to make up, as she passed away from an illness. Many of her clanmates grieved. Aspen, on the other hand, grieved only for the idea that her mother could have changed, and not for her mother herself.
A couple of moons after her mother's passing, Aspen was given an apprentice. His name was Emberpaw, and she was determined to teach him everything she could. She knew she was lucky to have a cat like him as her apprentice because of his personality and willingness to learn. Also, she was very excited to learn more about him and help his personality shine.
One day, she was beyond surprised when Emberpaw asked if Rainfall could train with them more often. She was extremely pleased as well and agreed. Rainfall came often to train with them, and the two worked so well together that it was like Emberpaw had two mentors instead of one.
On a normal day Aspensky and Emberpaw went hunting together. As they were attempting to stalk a rabbit, a shadow passed over head. Aspen was so focused on the rabbit that she didn't notice. But Emberpaw did. Everything happened so quickly she didn't have time to register his yell. She was pushed out of the way and fell away from him.
She scrambled to her paws to see Emberpaw on the ground, half of his face torn away. The massive bird flew away, knowing its job was done. For a moment, all Aspensky could do was wail. She screamed so, so loudly. What had she done?
A nearby patrol heard her cries of agony, and after seeing the scene, they knew what happened. They helped her bring the large tom back to camp and to the medicine cat. Aspensky stayed by his side the whole time, even when the medicine cat asked her to leave.
Rainfall would come in to check on her and tried to help her through everything, but for once, Aspen wouldn't budge on telling her her feelings. They were staying inside of her. Rain was able to respect it, but she was sad to see her mate falling into a hole of sadness.
When no one was looking, Aspensky cried so heavily it made a small puddle. She had failed her apprentice to the highest degree and she could do nothing to redeem herself. A few days later he woke up from the darkness. She thanked him with her whole heart, but again kept most of her feelings inside. She tried to stay happy for him.
He became a warrior soon after, and she was beyond proud of Embereye. Even after he received his warrior name, she helped him regain his skills since he no longer had his full vision. She was so grateful to see him recover and be happy. The two became closer than ever before.
And yet, all of her 'bad' emotions stayed inside, for whenever she saw her apprentice/friend, she knew his injury was all her fault.
